A Fervent Plea
Painting by John Frederick Lewis

A Fervent Plea

I listen to the song birds
sing their sweet refrain
As they ready themselves for the night
sweet slumber be their gain.
The sun is setting in the West
another day is past
And only what I've done for You
will be all, that will last.
I honor You, Sweet Jesus
and all You've done for me
Teach me more and more of Thee
is my fervent plea!
